    Smoked Sablefish, Haida Gwaii 

    Known also as butterfish, this delectable fish offers a rich and buttery flavor that melts in your mouth. With its high oil content lending to a thick flaky texture, Sable Fish is a true delight for seafood lovers. This is the cold-smoked version – an absolute treat! Warm slightly and serve with charcuterie accompaniments. We like whipped cream cheese, picked red onions and chopped chives.


    Sablefish is an excellent source of protein and the highest fish in heart-healthy Omega 3’s above Salmon or Tuna.


    Mostly headed abroad to fine-dining restaurants (it’s a favorite as sushi in Japan and can be found on the Nobu menu) – it’s a real treat to have the Pacific Prowler bring some of these beauties back to Saltspring.

    From The Prowler: All our fish are caught off the west coast of Haida Gwaii (Area F). We believe bringing these fish home for our surrounding communities, with 100% traceability, is an important part in keeping our food chain wild and local. All fish are brought in by hand one by one and promptly dressed, head off and guts removed, washed down and put in our flash freezer with temperatures to -35 to ensure the fish remains the highest of quality.
