Washing soda is a compound, also known as sodium carbonate, frequently used in DIY and commercial laundry detergents. Washing soda should not be confused with baking soda (a less abrasive cleaning agent), although the two compounds are closely related since they both contain the mineral trona. Washing soda and baking soda can be used together in DIY detergent recipes to remove stains, but washing soda has more of a stripping action to remove residues of oils, minerals, and fabric softeners.

Gathering Place Nutmeg Powder comes from our Farmers’ Cooperative in Sri Lanka, where multiple crops thrive together, creating a biodiverse ecosystem. Grown organically around the periphery of their spice food forests, nutmeg, which is the kernel of an apricot-like fruit, thrives in the dappled sun and heat. Hand harvested and powdered immediately before being shipped direct to us, our nutmeg is always fresh. With a sweet yet spicy flavour, it is used in baking, but also in warming soups or vegetable dishes, as well as custard and eggs.

Production: Sesame oil is obtained by cold pressing the seeds and then filtering the liquid to remove undesirable particles.
Qualities: the unique nutrients in sesame seeds are well preserved present in this raw, unrefined oil. It contains primarily polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. The natural occurring sesame lignans, which help the antioxidant process, have been attributed to have numerous health benefits including blood cholesterol reduction, oxidative stress attenuation, lipid metabolism modification, anti-inflammatory effects, and vitamin-E enhancement, among others. Tocopherol and sesamol, both vitamin-E precursors, are the main antioxidants present in this oil.
